Private Equity Investment Group: House Of Jawa
The Juneidi family traces its roots to Ali Bin Hassan Al Juneidi, who originated from the Hadramout region in Yemen.
His son, Hassan Bin Ali Al Juneidi, was born in the Holy City of Makkah. He travelled to Java, Indonesia, to study music in the early 20th century. When he returned to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, everyone started addressing him as ‘Hassan Jawa,’ which soon became his artistic name and then went on to become the family name.
Hassan bin Ali Jawa had two daughters, Kheria and Maidah, and four sons, Amin, Jamal, Mohamed Taher and Abdul Ghani. All of his sons have held prominent positions in the Saudi Arabian government and business communities. His son, H.E. Sheikh Jamal Hassan Jawa, a former government minister, is the current Chairman of the Jawa Group.
Since the Group’s inception in 1986, it has been the vision of its founder, Sheikh Jamal, to build an enterprise that will invest in exceptional projects, encouraging entrepreneurship and contributing to society. Sheikh Jamal is the father of three: a daughter, Sawsan, and two sons, Ahmed and Khalid. The eldest of Sheikh Jamal's children, Ahmed Jawa, serves as CEO of Starling, while the other two are members of the Board.
