Few individuals in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have attained the level of business success and government leadership achieved by H.E. Sheikh Jamal Hassan Jawa.

As Chairman of the Jawa Group of Companies and the Board’s Executive Committee, Sheikh Jamal Jawa is the leading principal of the Jawa Group. The group owes its ongoing strategic vision and investment philosophy to his guidance.

Sheikh Jamal Jawa was the Deputy Governor (a ministerial position) of Petromin currently known as Saudi Aramco, the state oil company that owns and operates all of Saudi Arabia’s oil refineries and pipelines, from 1959 to 1985. He also held the position of  acting governor from 1985 to 1988 before he retired. He oversaw the formulation, execution and implementation of policy guidelines within the company.

Sheikh Jamal Jawa has long been a key figure in the Saudi Arabian government, serving in numerous leadership positions. He retired from government service in 1988.

Ahmed Jawa has served as President, CEO and Board member of Starling Holding Ltd. since the company’s inception in 1986. In this capacity, Mr. Jawa is directly responsible for the investment and operational performance of the Starling Group of companies.

In addition, Mr. Jawa is the founder of the CTC Group, a family entity created for the purpose of investing and operating businesses in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf States.

He is a Director on the Board of Emaar Properties PJSC, one of the largest real estate companies in the world by market capitalization, and also sits on the company’s Executive Committee. He is also a Director on the Board of Emaar, The Economic City, Saudi Arabia and sits on the Executive committee and the Compensation committee of the company.

Mr. Jawa serves as Director on the Board of Emaar MGF, India and Emaar Turkey.

He was a founding partner and Chairman of Disney-Jawa (Middle East) Enterprises Ltd., a joint venture with the Walt Disney Company, the first international entertainment company in the Middle East.
Mr Jawa, who holds extensive investments in real estate and real estate development in Dubai, UAE, has served on the boards of the following companies

  • The Novapark Swiss Hotel Group>
  • Mirapolice, an entertainment company that builds theme parks in France
  • Tricon Group, a US-based securities trading firm
  • Chairman of Stallions Home Video LLC., a video distribution company for the Middle East

Mr. Jawa holds a B.Sc. in Business Administration and an MBA (Magna Cum Laude) from the University of San Francisco. In 1996, Mr. Jawa was elected a Global Leader for Tomorrow by the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

Jamal Ahmed Jawa

Vice President

Mr. Jamal Ahmed Jawa joined Starling as Senior Manager in 2010, after working at Banque Saudi Fransi, Jeddah, which is a joint venture between Saudi shareholders and Credit Agricole of France. He was responsible for Corporate Finance. He studied at Suffolk University in Boston MA, and graduated from College of Business Administration (CBA) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration. He is the first member of the family second generation to join the family office.

Mohammed Ahmed Jawa

Vice President

Mr. Mohammed Ahmed Jawa has joined Starling as a Senior Manager in September 2011 he is the second member of the second generation to join the family office. Mohammed’s experience include an internship at Credit Suisse Investment Banking in Dubai, UAE and brings more than two years of treasury experience to Starling from Banque Saudi Fransi where he occupied the position of Treasury Corporate Sales Dealer. His job description was to provide hedging and investment solutions for both institutional and private banking clients through the sale of treasury products ranging from foreign exchange, equities, commodities, interest rates, structured products and fixed income. Mr. Jawa holds a BBA in International Business Management from AIU-London Now Part of Regent’s American College London (RACL).

Tariq Rishi

Director – Investments

Mr. Tariq Rishi joined Starling as Manager – Projects in 2011. He has over 20 years of diversified experience in areas of Information Technology, FMCG, Social Media and Licensing. He has MBA (Finance) from University of Wales, Cardiff and MS in Industrial and Management Systems Engineering from Arizona State University. He holds BS in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore and also has certification in Technology and Ecommerce from University of California, Berkeley.

Sana Helal

Senior Manager – Investments

Ms. Helal has been working with the Starling group for five years. She is responsible for reviewing investment proposals, conducting due diligence and assisting in maintaining the current portfolio of Starling. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from PESIT, Bangalore, and an MBA in Finance from S. P. Jain Center of Management, Dubai. Ms. Helal is a candidate for the CFA program.

Vanathy Arul

Investment Analyst

Ms. Vanathy Arul joined Starling as an Investment Analyst in 2016. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from the University of Wollongong in Dubai. She is also a candidate for the CFA program.

Alisha Mulji

Investment Analyst

Ms. Alisha Mulji joined Starling as an Investment Analyst in 2014. She holds a Bachelors degree in Finance from University of Wollongong in Dubai. Ms. Mulji is also a level 2 candidate in the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).

Finance & Administration Group

Majid Siddiqui

Senior Finance and Administration Manager

Mr. Majid Siddiqui manages Finance and Administration functions of Starling and its subsidiaries. Mr. Majid has over 10 years of experience in the field of audit and finance and has been working in Gulf region for the past 6 years. He has worked with Ernst and Young (E&Y) for 4 years and performed his duties for E&Y in multiple countries.

Mr. Majid is a Fellow Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants – UK.

Javeed Jameuddin

Financial Accountant

Mr. Javeed joined Starling as Financial Accountant in August 2014. He is involved in various accounting functions for Starling and its subsidiaries. He holds an MBA in Finance from Bharathidasan University and have worked with Smiths Detection Middle East FZE (One of the five divisions of Smiths Group PLC, UK) for 8 years. He has over 11 years of experience in Finalization of accounts, Management reporting and budgeting.

Information Technology Group

Mohammed Ghouse Mohiuddin

MIS Supervisor

Mr. Ghouse Mohiuddin manages the operations and IT functions for the Starling Group. He has more than 8 years experience in the field of networking, software development and PC hardware support. Prior to joining Starling, he worked in Laing ORourke Construction Company. Mr. Ghouse is a Masters Degree holder in Computer Sciences and has also completed various Microsoft and Cisco certifications
