Starling, owned and managed by the Jawa family, has been an active investor in private equity investments for more than two decades.

The group invests primarily through interests in limited partnership positions, in Leveraged Buyout (MBO and LBO) , Growth Capital Private Equity Funds, Expansion Capital Private Equity Funds, Seed and Early Stage Growth Capital Private Equity Funds, Expansion Capital Private Equity Funds, Seed Early Stage Venture Capital Funds and Late Stage Venture Capital Funds. The group also makes direct investments in select transactions, either independently or through co-investment positions with existing private Equity and venture capital funds.

    Ms. Alisha Mulji joined Starling as an Investment Analyst in 2014. She holds an Bachelors degree in Finance from University of Wollongong in Dubai. Ms. Mulji is also a level 2 candidate in the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).

      Ms. Zarqaa Shaikh joined Starling as an Investment Analyst in 2013. She holds an Bachelors degree in commerce from University of Wollongong in Dubai. Ms.Shaikh is also a level 3 candidate in the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).

        SANA HELALSenior Manager - Investments

        Ms. Helal has been working with the Starling group for five years. She is responsible for reviewing investment proposals, conducting due diligence and assisting in maintaining the current portfolio of Starling. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from PESIT, Bangalore, and an MBA in Finance from S. P. Jain Center of Management, Dubai. Ms. Helal is a candidate for the CFA program.

          Mr. Jamal Ahmed Jawa joined Starling as Senior Manager in 2010, after working at Banque Saudi Fransi, Jeddah, which is a joint venture between Saudi shareholders and Credit Agricole of France. He was responsible for Corporate Finance. He studied at Suffolk University in Boston MA, and graduated from College of Business Administration (CBA) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration. He is the first member of the family second generation to join the family office.

          Mr. Mohammed Ahmed Jawa has joined Starling as a Senior Manager in September 2011 he is the second member of the second generation to join the family office. Mohammed’s experience include an internship at Credit Suisse Investment Banking in Dubai, UAE and brings more than two years of treasury experience to Starling from Banque Saudi Fransi where he occupied the position of Treasury Corporate Sales Dealer. His job description was to provide hedging and investment solutions for both institutional and private banking clients through the sale of treasury products ranging from foreign exchange, equities, commodities, interest rates, structured products and fixed income. Mr. Jawa holds a BBA in International Business Management from AIU-London Now Part of Regent’s American College London (RACL).

          TARIQ RISHIDirector - Investments

          Mr. Tariq Rishi joined Starling as Manager – Projects in 2011. He has over 20 years of diversified experience in areas of Information Technology, FMCG, Social Media and Licensing. He has MBA (Finance) from University of Wales, Cardiff and MS in Industrial and Management Systems Engineering from Arizona State University. He holds BS in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore and also has certification in Technology and Ecommerce from University of California, Berkeley.

          JAVEED JAMEUDDINFinancial Accountant

          Mr. Javeed joined Starling as Financial Accountant in August 2014. He is involved in various accounting functions for Starling and its subsidiaries. He holds an MBA in Finance from Bharathidasan University and have worked with Smiths Detection Middle East FZE (One of the five divisions of Smiths Group PLC, UK) for 8 years. He has over 11 years of experience in Finalization of accounts, Management reporting and budgeting.

            MAJID SIDDIQUISenior Finance and Administration Manager

            Mr. Majid Siddiqui manages Finance and Administration functions of Starling and its subsidiaries. Mr. Majid has over 10 years of experience in the field of audit and finance and has been working in Gulf region for the past 6 years. He has worked with Ernst and Young (E&Y) for 4 years and performed his duties for E&Y in multiple countries.

            Mr. Majid is a Fellow Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants – UK.

              MOHAMMED GHOUSE MOHIUDDINMIS Supervisor

              Mr. Ghouse Mohiuddin manages the operations and IT functions for the Starling Group. He has more than 8 years experience in the field of networking, software development and PC hardware support. Prior to joining Starling, he worked in Laing ORourke Construction Company. Mr. Ghouse is a Masters Degree holder in Computer Sciences and has also completed various Microsoft and Cisco certifications
